Dwadashi and Parana Rules
Dwadashi, the twelfth lunar day, is primarily significant for 'Parana'—the ritual breaking of the Ekadashi fast. The first quarter of Dwadashi is known as 'Hari Vasara', during which it is considered inauspicious to break the fast.
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this Tithi marks the completion of the Ekadashi ritual cycle. According to Vedic scriptures, performing Parana at the correct time ensures the full spiritual merit of the previous day's fast is obtained.
