Ram Mandir (Ram Mandir - Bajhang)

Located in Chainpur, the headquarters of Bajhang district, Ram Mandir is an important religious site of this district itself. Lord Shri Ram is worshipped here. There are also idols of other gods and goddesses in the temple complex. Located in the heart of Chainpur bazaar, this temple is a center of faith for local residents and special worship is performed here during various festivals.

History

The history of Ram Mandir, located in Chainpur of Bajhang, is deeply connected with the Bajhang kings here. Around the late 18th century, the Bajhang kings established this temple wishing for peace and prosperity in the state. The famous king and social reformer of Bajhang, Jaya Prithvi Bahadur Singh, had contributed a lot to advance and protect the religious tradition of this temple. This temple is a living symbol of the ancient art and religious tolerance of Bajhang.

Architecture

This temple is built in a mixture of traditional Nepali pagoda and Shikhara styles. Carved stone and wood available locally have been used in the construction of the temple. Artistic figures of various gods and goddesses are carved on the walls and doors of the temple. In the inner sanctum of the temple are very beautiful and ancient idols made of black stone of Lord Shri Ram, Mother Sita, and Lakshman.

Religious Importance and Festivals

For the residents of Bajhang, this temple is a symbol of the ideals and religion of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram. There is a popular belief that family happiness and peace are obtained by worshiping here.

• Ram Navami: This is the largest festival here. On the day of Chaitra Shukla Navami, special worship, Bhajan-Kirtan, and a grand fair are held here.
• Bibaha Panchami and Dashain: There is a special glow here during Bibaha Panchami and Dashain in memory of the marriage of Lord Ram and Sita.
• Banni Chaitali: Devotees also come to visit here during the time of the famous Banni Chaitali fair of Bajhang. Located on the banks of the Seti River, this temple is also in a naturally very beautiful location.
