Located in the heart of Lahan bazaar in Siraha district, Rajdevi Mandir is an important religious center of this region. This temple is especially famous for offering sacrifices during the time of Bada Dashain. On the day of Ashtami of Dashain, a large number of animal sacrifices are offered here. Local residents have profound faith in this temple. The temple complex is very clean and beautiful.

History

The history of Rajdevi Mandir in Lahan is considered ancient and mythological. According to local popular belief, this region has been worshipped as a Shakti Peetha since time immemorial. This temple is located about 10 kilometers north of Lahan bazaar in the lap of the Chure forest. Historically, this region is also viewed by connecting it with the saga of King Salhesh.

Architecture

The current structure of the temple is built in a modern pagoda style. The temple is spread over an area of about 3 Bighas and is surrounded by greenery of the Chure forest and natural environment. Natural sites like Rajdevi Lake, Shiva Danda, and Hattidaha wetland area are located near the temple complex, which have increased its tourist attraction.

Religious Importance and Vows

Rajdevi is considered the Goddess of power. Here devotees come with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled. Especially childless couples come here to make a vow for children and offer special worship after the vow is fulfilled. There is a tradition of offering goat and pigeon sacrifice here.

Major Fairs and Festivals

  • Baisakhi Fair: The largest fair here is held on the occasion of Baisakh Shukla Purnima (Buddha Jayanti). During this time, lakhs of devotees come from various places in Nepal and India.
  • Bada Dashain: Special worship and sacrifices are offered here during the time of Navaratri. On Saturdays and Tuesdays of the week, there is also a special crowd of visitors here.
