Shashwat Dham (CG Temple)

Shashwat Dham, located in Dumkauli of Nawalpur district, is a major modern religious and tourist destination of Nepal. Built by the Chaudhary Group, this Dham is spread over an area of about 12 acres and is famous for its unique architecture.

History and Concept

The concept of Shashwat Dham was formed about two decades ago during the visit of spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to Nepal. Binod Chaudhary, the chairman of Chaudhary Group, built this Dham for the protection of Sanatan Dharma and spiritual education. Its formal inauguration was done by the then President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Falgun 23, 2073 BS (March 7, 2017).

Architecture and Main Attractions

• Khajuraho Style: The main 'Ekambeshwar Shiva Temple' of the Dham is built in the South Indian Khajuraho style. Extremely fine and attractive patterns are carved on the pinnacle and walls of the temple.
• Sarvatirtha Sarovar: The temple is surrounded on all sides by a beautiful pond called 'Sarvatirtha Sarovar'. In this pond, sacred waters from famous pilgrimage sites like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Muktinath, and Pashupatinath have been mixed.
• Relics of Lord Buddha: The sacred relics (asthu) of Lord Buddha, gifted by the Government of Sri Lanka, are kept here, reflecting the religious harmony between Hinduism and Buddhism.
• Nakshatra Vatika: Various plants and trees representing the 12 zodiac signs and 27 constellations (Nakshatras) have been planted here.

Facilities and Activities

• Religious Museum and Library: There are ancient manuscripts and artifacts related to Hindu religion and culture here.
• Gurukul: There is a residential school here teaching Vedic education and rituals to young students (Batuks).
• Light and Sound Show: The colorful light and music show held at the temple during the night is a main attraction for visitors.
• Yoga and Meditation Center: A special meditation center has been arranged for spiritual peace.
