Tripurasundari Devi (Kalikot)

Tripurasundari Temple, located in Kalikot district, is a famous Shakti Peetha in this region. Goddess Bhagwati is worshipped in this temple located on a scenic hilltop. A large fair is held here especially during the time of Dashain and Chaite Dashain. Devotees come from far and wide for pilgrimage with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled.

History

The Tripura Sundari temple of Kalikot is a major and ancient Shakti Peetha of the Karnali region. According to mythological belief, it is believed that the Shakti Peetha originated here after the body part of Sati Devi fell. This temple has been a center of great fame and devotion since the time of the ancient Khas kings. This temple is considered one of the seven major Bhagwati temples of Karnali and its architecture is in the traditional Nepali pagoda style. It has played a big role in the religious identity and spiritual protection of this region for centuries.
