In a certain city, a Brahmin lived with his wife. Both the husband and wife were extremely distressed because they had no children. Once, the Brahmin went to the forest to practice the meditation of Lord Hanuman. He would perform the puja and service of Hanuman Ji every day with full devotion and would constantly pray to him for a son.

On the other hand, at home, the Brahmin's wife also used to observe the Tuesday fast with full rituals and regulations. On the day of the fast, only after performing the puja and offering Bhog to Hanuman Ji would she herself consume food. Once, for some reason, the Brahmin woman could not prepare food on Tuesday, due to which Hanuman Ji's Bhog could also not be offered. Therefore, she became extremely sad and decided - "Now I will consume grain only after offering Bhog to Hanuman Ji on the upcoming Tuesday." According to her vow, she remained without food for six days in this way. Due to remaining without food for so many days, her body became weak and on the seventh day, Tuesday, she fainted due to debility.

At that same time, Hanuman Ji, being pleased with her devotion and dedication, appeared before her. Appearing to her in a child form, Hanuman Ji said - "I am extremely pleased with your devotion, loyalty, and dedication. I grant you a boy, who will serve you immensely." After giving a boon in this way, Hanuman Ji vanished from there. The Brahmin woman's mind was delighted to receive that beautiful boy as a result of the boon from Hanuman Ji. She gave the name Mangal to the boy.

After some time, the Brahmin returned from the forest. Seeing a beautiful boy playing in the courtyard of his house, that Brahmin was extremely astonished. He questioned his wife - "Who is this boy?" The wife replied - "I had observed the Tuesday fast with faith. Pleased as a result of that fast, Hanuman Ji has granted me this boy, his name is Mangal."

Due to the natural suspicious nature of man, the Brahmin did not believe this statement of his wife. Considering the wife's statement as false, he thought in his heart that - "This adulteress is telling a lie to hide her fault." At that time the husband did not say anything, but the flame of suspicion and hatred was burning in his heart.

One day that husband was going to fetch water from the well, his wife urged to take the boy Mangal as well. The husband brought Mangal with him and deceitfully pushed him into that deep well filled with water. When the Brahmin returned with water and did not find the boy Mangal with him, the wife asked the husband - "Where is Mangal?" Before the Brahmin could give any answer, Mangal appeared there in a cheerful mood while rejoicing. The Brahmin was stunned to see him safe. But he remained silent.

At night, Lord Hanuman himself gave darshan to the Brahmin in his dream. Hanuman Ji said to the Brahmin - "I have granted this boy as a boon being pleased with your virtuous wife's faithful observance of the Tuesday fast. Do not insult your wife. Otherwise, you will have to suffer the punishment for it." After saying this much, Hanuman Ji vanished from his dream.

Hearing the words of Shri Hanuman Ji, the Brahmin's heart became cool and he felt extreme remorse for his actions. Knowing the truth, he became extremely happy in his heart. Thereafter, both husband and wife began to observe the Tuesday fast regularly, by the effect of which all their troubles were resolved and they began to lead a happy life.

Similarly, whoever reads or listens to this Tuesday fast story and observes the fast ritually, by the grace of Hanuman Ji, all their problems are resolved and they attain all types of happiness.
