Siddhakali Mandir

Siddhakali Mandir, located near the headquarters of Bhojpur district, is an extremely important religious and tourist Shakti Peetha of eastern Nepal. This temple is located on a hilltop, from where Bhojpur market and panoramic mountain ranges around can be seen.

History and Religious Importance

• Shakti Peetha: Siddhakali Mandir is considered a powerful Shakti Peetha. Goddess Kali is worshipped here. According to local residents, the tradition of establishment and worship of this temple has been going on since ancient times.
• Public Belief: There is a popular belief that wishes are fulfilled by visiting and making a vow here. People worship here especially for the birth of children and for the removal of various crises.
• Siddha and Narayan Caves: Near the temple are the Siddha Cave and Narayan Cave of historical and religious importance, where it is believed that sages meditated in ancient times.

Architecture and Structure

• Pagoda Style: The temple is built in the traditional Nepalese pagoda style. The roof and design of the temple present a beautiful example of Nepalese original architecture.
• Wood Carving: Attractive wooden patterns are carved on the struts (tundal), doors, and pillars of the temple. Many small and large bells have been offered in the temple complex.
• Subsidiary Temples: There are also small temples of Ganesh, Shiva (Mahadev), Shanidev, Radhakrishna, and Hanuman around the main temple.

Main Festivals and Fairs

• Dashain (Bada Dashain and Chaite Dashain): The largest fair is held here during the time of Dashain. There is a tradition of special worship and sacrifice during the time of Navaratri.
• Ram Navami: A special religious festival is celebrated here on Ram Navami, which falls during the time of Chaite Dashain.
• Bala Chaturdashi: A large crowd of devotees gathers on this day to scatter Shatbeej.
• Mahashivaratri: Since there is also a temple of Lord Shiva, special worship is performed on the day of Shivaratri.
